A new version of the Chernobylite Xbox Game Pass just showed up on the Xbox Store. It’s kind of an interesting challenge, but I’m not sure if I’m all that interested in playing it.
One of the biggest rumors for the Xbox Game Pass was Microsoft’s plans to create a free game subscription service for Xbox One owners. While the company never announced anything of the sort, rumors have persisted that the company would soon begin offering a subscription-based service of some sort. We were recently alerted to a new game subscription service that had surfaced, and it looks to be a sequel to the company’s long-running Xbox Game Pass. What could be better than a subscription service that allows you to play games for free on Xbox One? Well, a subscription service that allows you to play games for free on Xbox One and Xbox One X, that’s what.
On December 23, 2017, the internet was ablaze with news that Microsoft is working on a new game subscription service called the “Xbox Game Pass” that will cost $14.99. The service, according to sources, will stream a constantly growing number of games on demand and will be available on both PC and Xbox One. The service is set to launch in early 2018, however, there is little to no information about what games will be available and the content will be added to the service over time.
Chernobylite is the newest game to transport players to the devastated plains of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, and it may be one of the year’s biggest surprises. Its ambitious mix of stealth and first-person shooter gameplay, base-building, squad management, RPG features, and roguelike stylings is handled well, leaving some to question whether it will be available on Xbox Game Pass or its PC equivalent in 2021.
Chernobylite connects all of the aforementioned aspects via its narrative, which follows Igor, a physicist who worked on the fatal nuclear power plant, in his quest for Tatyana, his fiancée. Let’s see whether Xbox Game Pass members are willing to help him out.
You may have heard of developer The Farm 51’s newest project when it was in Steam Early Access, where it was tweaked before its July 2021 PC release. Chernobylite, on the other hand, is not yet accessible on Xbox Game Pass for PC, and there are no indications as to when it will be added to Microsoft’s subscription program.
This inevitably implies it won’t be available on the Xbox Game Pass for consoles, but an Xbox One launch is planned for later this year, on September 7. Perhaps we’ll hear more about if Chernobylite will be available on Xbox Game Pass in 2021 at that time.
Despite the fact that everyone is now trapped with a conventional purchase, it may be worthwhile to make one. We deemed the game to be ideal for people who “enjoy the ambiance of Eastern European survival games but despise the jank” in our review. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more about Chernobylite’s release on Xbox Game Pass.
