Crowfall doesn’t feel like it’s been six weeks, but this summer has seemed like three minutes and three years at the same time, so maybe that makes sense. At this month-and-a-half point, ArtCraft has released a fresh dev blog, announcing that The Shadow’s first campaigns have officially ended.

The studio adds, “Our next big update at the end of August will provide global (cross-server) access to Dregs and Shadow campaigns.” “All Crows will battle in a wider universe with unrestricted access to all global zones — Europe, Australia, the United States East and West — as well as schedules to match. This allows you to participate in competitive PvP campaigns and sieges at any time, regardless of the day or hour. We’re also improving the incentives for playing and winning. At the end of the month, we’ll provide more detailed information.”

The team also claims that its performance in sieges has increased, and that it is preparing new sieges, including “Handshake Sieges.” What is a Handshake Siege, exactly? According to a short search of the forums, ArtCraft has been attempting to address the issue of defenders swarming a map, making it difficult for attackers to join and accomplish anything, thus shutting off siege windows. In a handshake siege, would-be attackers may force their way through, while surplus defenders are pushed to the back of the line. It’s a lot more complex than that, and you can read more about it if you want, but the bottom line is that it should make sieges more exciting – and it will also mean fewer Dreg keeps.
