The long-awaited remasters of Final Fantasy I, II, and III are finally getting a July 2019 release date. At E3 2019, Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy I, II, and III Remaster Collection and the Order of Ruin, which will both be available on the PlayStation Store on July 29. Fans are also looking forward to the bonus content that comes with this collection.

Final Fantasy 2 has been remade, and Final Fantasy 3 is coming this summer. We already know that the remastered games are being ported to mobile devices, but Square Enix just confirmed that the first two games in the franchise will be getting the same treatment as well.

Picking up where Square Enix left off with the original Final Fantasy, they’ve been painstakingly recreating the games from the pixelated 8 and 16-bit eras. Final Fantasy I, II, and III: The Complete Collection will be released on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on July 29, and it will feature remastered graphics, remade cutscenes, and additional features (similar to the Kingdom Hearts HD Collection).. FINAL FANTASY PIXEL REMASTER

.

According to the father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi:

When I worked on the originals, I never imagined that the FINAL FANTASY series would be remastered almost 35 years later. The video game industry was still in its infancy. So if no one was leading us, we had to keep moving forward. I remember trying a lot of things back then. I am very happy and grateful that Final Fantasy has been around for so long.

Yoshinori Kitase, head of the Final Fantasy brand and producer of the Final Fantasy VII remake, adds:

Every time a new Final Fantasy game comes out, some people want to go back to the roots of the series. This project was started because we wanted to create an easy way for fans and new players to enjoy these original classic games, with consistent graphics and user interface.

In closing, the composer of the series, Nobuo Uematsu, had the following to say:

This time we rearrange all the music pieces. One of my first ideas was to stay true to the originals, but of course I couldn’t leave them in their original three-tone sound, so they were compiled into full tracks. I tried to keep the original atmosphere, and each song can be listened to as a separate piece of music for fans to enjoy.

By pre-purchasing the games on Steam, players will receive two exclusive wallpapers, three music tracks and 20% off each game. All six games are also available for purchase as a Final Fantasy I-VI Bundle, at an additional discount.
