The Bard is a fun, versatile class. It does not fit well into the campaign-based nature of Neverwinter’s story-based gameplay, but the class is still fun to play.

One of the things that make Neverwinter an exceptional game for us is the Bard class. Our Bard, Rabble Rouser, uses his magical music to make allies of his enemies, and to turn the tide of battle in his favor. But many people are confused as to how this class works, as it’s a polarizing class, as it’s a source of both power and hilarity. In this post, I’ll attempt to clear up some of those misconceptions, as well as provide insight as to how the Bard fits into Neverwinter.

Here’s a quick look at a few of the questions that came in for this week’s episode of Neverwinter advice. The D&D Bard is a new class for Neverwinter, and its Bardic Music mechanic allows players to cast spells as a full action, twice per round. Some questions were raised around how to best use this ability given the Bard’s inherent speed. If you’re a Bard, you should be well versed in song and dance, so why not use those skills to their fullest?

It’s easy to assume that moving classes in Dungeons & Dragons over to a video game would be easy, but the Bard class is a bit more distinct and challenging. Factor in making that class suitable for an MMO and challenges likely double. Facing that challenge in Neverwinter was the focus of an interview with executive producer Matt Powers, lead designer Randy Mosiondz, and D&D lead rules designer Jeremy Crawford.

The interview notes how the devs were seeking to make Bard’s jack-of-all-trades style translate appropriately in Neverwinter, with emphasis on taking the tabletop game as inspiration for the MMO’s action gameplay instead of doing a perfect one-to-one translation of the class. Much was also made about making the class something of an artist in battle, in fashion, and in music. Crawford also nods to the Bard class’ penchant for fashion with the College of Glamour added to D&D’s Xanathar’s Guide to Everything.

The interview itself is mostly softball, but it’s still an entertaining read. Check out our interview with Mosiondz, as well as our initial impressions of Jewel of the North and our most recent livestream featuring the Bard, for more information on Neverwinter and its newest update.

This week on the blog, we have a topic that so many people have asked about. People want to know how to make their Bard class work in Neverwinter. There are two ways to go about this: one is to “mold” your Bard class to fit the game, and the other is to create a new class. The answer to the first question is tricky. The Bard class is already fairly specialized, so if you want to use it in Neverwinter, you’ll have to modify it heavily. However, there are ways to do it, and our Bard class template has already been adjusted to work in the game.. Read more about neverwinter bard class free and let us know what you think.
