PlanetSide 2’s third closed beta weekend kicked off on Friday, and there are a few notable changes in the action. For starters, the latest update gets rid of the light machine guns (LMGs) from the beta weekends so far, and now you’re stuck with the slower-firing and more accurate weapons from the base game. The long-awaited Javelin drops have also finally been added, making the mobile anti-armor vehicle a thing that will hopefully make a splash in the action.

Today is an exciting day for PlanetSide 2 players as SOE has continued to deliver a steady stream of content and features since the game’s release last November. One feature that was added with the game’s first update was the ability to bring your old character into the game. This feature was a resounding success and was added to the game without fanfare, as it was well known to be part of the first update. Today, SOE has continued to make some changes to the game and has announced something that, while small, is very significant.

PlanetSide 2 has been around for over a year now, and while it’s still in beta, there’s been a lot of changes and new features added since the game first launched. Today’s update is the largest one, and it includes the largest patch for the game. Here’s a rundown of what’s been added:

Now that the NSO faction has been revamped, it’s only natural that PlanetSide 2 would need to make some post-patch adjustments. That’s exactly what this new patch seems to accomplish, tweaking a few items in the PC version of the game in unimpressive but otherwise essential ways.

This patch improves the damage output of the NSX Yum and increases the ammo of the NSX Masamune and NSX Muramasa infantry weapons. It also makes changes to the Javelin, such as better strafe acceleration, a doubled pitch-up camera angle for the JVN-50 Celeste Javelin weapon, and less fan spread, more ammo, and a larger magazine size for the JVN-X3 Hydra Javelin weapon. There’s also a large list of bug patches, some of which are linked to the NSO and others that aren’t. The hotfix should be available by 1:00 p.m. EDT (or by the time you read this), but it’s still worth taking a minute to get used to all the changes.

The break this morning is taking a bit longer than expected. Servers are estimated to be back online within the hour. The following are the patch notes for this morning’s update: #PlanetSide2
