When I first heard of Pocket Dungeon, I thought it was going to be a mobile game, but no. The mobile title is only Pocket Dungeon, with the dungeon part being a series of short mini-games. It’s similar to Metal Slug Tactics though, as Pocket Dungeon features a team of characters called the “Carnage Knights” and each character has its own special ability.

You’re a Dungeon Master (DM) and you’re playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) when suddenly your character is whisked away to a mysterious dungeon filled with monsters and challenges you’ve never faced before. You’ve always been a little bit of a role player, so you’re more than up to the task of making your character survive and thrive. In fact, you’re the one who created them, so you know they’re a force to be reckoned with!

The day after the initial release of the game, I made this post: As you can see, I set up a dungeon inside a website, and the player can walk around it. It’s a simple dungeon, and a creative way to play the game. There is one design flaw, though. Your character can only move one square at a time. It would be much better if he can move two at a time.

8.11.2021 – Nintendo Switch Indie World Showcase

The following are some of the video’s highlights:

  • Bomb Rush Cyberfunk from Team Reptile: Grind, paint, and combo your way up to become an All City King, one of the greatest graffiti painters in a vast city, in this graffiti-action-adventure. Use the simple trick system to travel about town and expand your team with more playable characters. All of this is set to music by genre-defying musicians like Hideki Naganuma. In 2022, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be released for Nintendo Switch as a limited-time console exclusive.
  • Thomas Happ Games LLC’s Axiom Verge 2: A new hero battles for her life in this prequel to the original Axiom Verge, aided by the same tiny robots that are progressively consuming her humanity. It’s time to uncover the beginnings of the Axiom Verge universe, with two linked realms to explore and battle through. The Nintendo Switch version of Axiom Verge 2 will be released later today!
  • Eastward, an action-adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon aspects by Pixpil / Chucklefish: Explore a stunningly designed post-apocalyptic environment in Eastward, an action-adventure RPG with puzzle-solving and dungeon elements. A diligent miner named John finds a little girl named Sam in a hidden subterranean facility in a near-future civilization on the verge of collapse. This odd duo will go on an emotional adventure to uncover the truth, traveling through a fascinatingly strange world and seeing busy cities, strange campgrounds, and shady woods. Eastward is a timed console exclusive for Nintendo Switch, and pre-orders will commence on the Nintendo eShop later today.
  • TOEM is a laid-back, hand-drawn adventure game in which you go on a pleasant journey and use your photographic eye to unravel the secrets of the titular TOEM. You may go across a range of diverse, peaceful areas inspired by the Scandinavian countryside by talking to eccentric people and solving their issues by taking attractive pictures. This autumn, TOEM will be released for Nintendo Switch.
  • Vine / Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon: Fight enemies, retrieve relics, and face new and old monsters in an action-packed puzzle-adventure mashup with Puzzle Knight as your guide. As you attempt to escape the strange Pocket Dungeon, group opponents together to unleash huge chain attacks, and collect keys, potions, and riches. There will be over ten heroes to choose from, each with their own unique abilities and play styles. In local multiplayer mode, you may also compete against a buddy. Shovel Knight series amiibo may be used to summon a familiar fairy companion, which is a unique feature for Nintendo Switch. This winter, Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon will be released on Nintendo Switch.
  • Leikir Studio’s Metal Slug Tactics / Dotemu: Metal Slug Tactics is a new take on Metal Slug that adds tactical combat mechanisms and roguelike aspects to the mix. It maintains fan-favorite characteristics like rich pixel graphics and explosive action, but adds tactical combat techniques and roguelike elements to the mix. In fast-paced, dynamic fights, command familiar Metal Slug characters such as Marco, Tarma, Fio, and Eri. Arranging is crucial in a tactical game like this; properly positioning your soldiers on the battlefield may trigger the Sync ability, which allows several heroes to inflict additional damage to the opponent. Metal Slug Tactics will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, and it will be a whole new Metal Slug experience.
  • Connected from Monstars Inc., Resonair, and Stage Games / Enhance: Tetris Effect The single-player Journey mode is included in this version of the renowned Tetris Effect, as well as the competitive Zone Battle mode (accessible locally* or online**) and the cooperative Connected mode. It also has cross-platform multiplayer, which makes finding others to play with With or against – a lot simpler. Tetris Effect: Connected will be released for Nintendo Switch on October 8, allowing you to take the Tetris Effect experience with you everywhere you go.
  • FAR from Okomotive / Frontier Foundry: Changing Tides In this evocative vehicle adventure based in the post-apocalyptic world originally presented in FAR: Lone Sails, set sail on a new adventure. Explore a huge flooded terrain, battle tremendous storms, and solve puzzles as you go on a journey to discover a new home as the captain of your own sailing vessel. It’s a moving, contemplative experience that doesn’t need any previous understanding of the FAR series. In early 2022, FAR: Changing Tides will be released for Nintendo Switch.
  • Instead of playing as the hero, you must create the universe that the hero goes through in this unique card-based RPG from Four Quarters/Devolver Digital. Place opponents, structures, and terrain along each unique expedition loop that the hero explores using a growing deck of magical cards. Each type of hero can recover and equip powerful treasure, and the more loops you complete, the more choices you’ll have, with additional cards, hero classes, and guardian monsters unlocked along the way. This winter, Nintendo Switch users will be able to play Loop Hero.
  • Kitfox Games’ Boyfriend Dungeon: Use the in-game money you gain from killing monsters to woo your weapons on romantic excursions in this poignant dungeon-crawling dating sim. Multiple fighting techniques just means more cuties with whom to form bonds! Boyfriend Dungeon is coming to Nintendo Switch today!
  • Necrobarista: Route 59 Final Pour / Coconut Island Games: This anime-style visual novel follows a colorful ensemble of people as they negotiate a fantasy Melbourne’s coffee culture, the dubious ethics of necromancy, and the process of letting go in a tale about coffee and death. New narrative material and improved graphics are included in this extended Director’s Cut of the original game. Players may even design their own language and storylines in the new Studio mode. Necrobarista: Final Pour will be released as a limited-time Nintendo Switch console exclusive… later today!
  • GrizzlyGames’ ISLANDERS: Console Edition / Coatsink: You create an island by adding buildings from your inventory in this peaceful, randomly generated strategy game. If you earn enough points, you’ll unlock new structures to help you expand your island colony. Then, when you can’t build any farther, start again on a new island and repeat the process. ISLANDERS lets you construct the city of your dreams again and over again in little time thanks to its simple design, straightforward physics, and almost limitless colored islands to build on. ISLANDERS: Console Edition will be available for the Nintendo Switch as a limited-time console exclusive… later today!
  • Picogram / Rose City Games’ Garden Story: Explore a colorful island to inspire its people, fight against the invading Rot, and restore your home as the Guardian of the Grove. Take on residents’ demands, solve riddles, and do all you can to aid in the community’s restoration! Garden Story will be available as a limited-time console exclusive… later today!

Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition from Monomi Park and Curious Expedition 2 from Maschinen-Mensch / Thunderful Publishing were featured in the Indie World presentation, as well as a montage of upcoming indie games, including two games that are launching for Nintendo Switch today: Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition from Monomi Park and Curious Expedition 2 from Maschinen-Mensch / Thunderful Publishing. Hundred Days – Winemaking Simulator from Broken Arm Games and Gang Beasts from Boneloaf, both releasing this winter; ASTRONEER from System Era Softworks, opening in January; and LumbearJack from Finalboss Games / Armor Games, launching in 2022, were also included in the montage.

What indie games are you most looking forward to playing on the Nintendo Switch?
